Signs It May Be Time for Memory Care

Every person experiences memory changes differently. Certain changes in daily life, behavior or well-being may suggest that additional support could be beneficial.

If your loved one has begun leaving the house without purpose or getting disoriented in familiar neighborhoods, it may be a sign they need a secure, supportive environment with 24-hour supervision.

When routine activities (bathing, dressing, eating) become overwhelming or dangerous without constant assistance, memory care provides structured help while preserving dignity.

Sudden mood swings, sundowning or aggression can signal that dementia is progressing beyond what a home environment can safely manage.

Leaving the stove on, forgetting medications or experiencing frequent falls may indicate safety issues. Memory care communities are purpose-built to eliminate these risks while maintaining a home-like atmosphere.

Caring for a loved one with dementia is emotionally and physically exhausting. Seeking professional memory care can be one of the most loving decisions you make for their safety and quality of life.

Communicating with a Loved One with Dementia

Dementia may change how you communicate, but it doesn’t change the importance of connection. These approaches can help you stay close and communicate meaningfully at every stage.

RISE Memory Care Program

This signature approach for our Pearl Memory Care communities is built to help residents feel safe, valued and engaged. Designed with research and cognitive support at the forefront, RISE supports cognitive function, emotional well-being and daily routine through meaningful, familiar activities.

Based on 10 Pillars of Engagement and the 6 Dimensions of Wellness, RISE has been reviewed and endorsed by Dr. Robert Winningham, a nationally recognized cognition training expert, gerontologist and neuropsychologist.

“One of the most noteworthy aspects of the RISE Program is how holistic and multifaceted it is. Residents can engage in group-based activities designed to set them up for success. There are daily opportunities to engage with nature and see new things. Residents benefit from the music, hands-on activities and daily Cognition Ignition sessions.”

Storytelling
